Aligning multiple layers to an object while keeping their respective positions

Hi, I am trying past the contents of one .ai file into a second file and have those contents align with an object.

The original files contain a dieline layer as well as a couple of artwork layers, and the file that I'm pasting into has the exact same dieline. I want to paste in all of the layers from the original file and then be able to align all of the content so that the two dielines line up. And I want to do so without mis aligning the artwork from the dieline or merging layers. Is there a way to do this?

Because the artwork bleeds over the dieline unevenly, aligning everything relative to the artboard is not an option.

Hi @charlotte_8595,

Can you group both, and then align them to each other?

Another option is to use command+shift+v (paste in place). You can copy from one Illustrator file's artboard and paste into the other's. Make sure the artboards are the same size.
