All layers opening up into sub layers every time I start up

Question

Every time I open illustrator all the layers in my file expand showing every single sub-layer. This is beyond annoying because I have to close EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. How do I fix this????

@Joshua263417470qed to quickly close all sub-layers in a document, hold down the Option key (Mac) or Alt key (PC) while clicking on the top layer. This will collapse all sub-layers beneath it. When you save the document, these closed sub-layers will be preserved, so they'll remain closed the next time you open the file....see the attached mini video

Hello @Joshua263417470qed,We understand that encountering technical issues can be frustrating. Would you mind resetting Illustrator's preferences as described in this article (https://adobe.ly/3AU1ua3) and checking if it helps? Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders in case you want to. The location is mentioned above.Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks,Anubhav
