Anchor/Path labels in Smart Guides help

My paths use to highlight with the word 'Path', so I knew I had the path selected and not the entire object. That's gone. I thought it was Anchor/Path labels in Smart Guides, but that is checked. Anyone?

    First solution can be Reset Preferences and check again.

      I did that and made sure that I am on the most current build version as well. Still nothing.
