Hi all,

Just to let you know that Cineware is now available as a FREE plugin for Illustrator, enabling you to import real 3D objects. Her's more info direct from Maxon below.

I use Cineware in After Effects a lot and can't wait to use it in AI 🙂

I hope you love it as much as I do.

Downloaded!

...but, is it just me not doing something right, or does this only work if you also have Cinema 4D installed?

...and does it only work with .c4d files? I assume I can't use 3d objects from Maya or SketchUp?

It's mostly meant for making mockups. But really simple to use. Download the template file with the model, put your artwork on the artboard, then use the panels to assign your artwork to the 3D object and then render it.

We can do some pretty complex compositing tricks with it.

Keep in mind that because of alpha masks and transparency masks we can blend vector and 3D elements together.

Add to that blending with other layers and you can get some really cool results.

This is from a friend of mine who I helped out a little.

The map is a vector object applied on a sphere and the names of each country are also vectors applied on 3D planes.

Then everything is blended together with layers of paper to create a handmade look
