Annoying magenta measurement guides?

What are the annoying magenta measurement guides which keep showing up whenever I press the option key? How do I turn them off? They're not smart guides, and I can't find any option under the View menu that controls them.

    That worked, but that's odd. I did not have Smart Guides turned on.
