Question

Applying pattern (group of paths) to path?

I have several groups of paths that together make up a camouflage pattern. These groups are laid side-by-side over the shape (path) of a pair of pants (see attached). I want to apply the camouflage pattern only to the limits of the shape/path of the pants. How can this be done?

I've tried the Pathfinder tool, but it will take forever to delete that camouflage parts that are outisde the bounds of the pant shape. There must be an easier way.

Is the pants object a single object or does it contain multiple objects.

If multiple you can try Object > Compound Path > Make before trying to make it into a clipping mask.

Make sure the pink line is really one path. Move it to the front. Select all and then Object > Clipping mask > Make

I do not see the attachement, but if the pants is a single object you could put it (or a copy of it) on top of the camouflage object. Select the camouflage objects and the top pants shape and choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make

I tried that as well, but it didn't seem to work. The camo pattern/objects just disappeared.

Actually, I think I got it. I had to make the area/shape with a fill as opposed to just an outline. Thanks!
