Arc tool with the Tilde key

I'm trying to use the Tilde key to create a shape with the Arc tool but it's not happening. I have a Mac and recently found out that the Tilde key is not Option+N as stated on many pages but actually option+a symbol key next to enter. Anyhow, even so, I cannot get the shape I wish. Is anyine familiar with this and have any ideas how I can use the Arc tool to build spirals of shapes together? Thank you.

Is it just the arc tool where this is not working?

Which language are you in? for the system, the keyboard and Illustrator

There are different keys in different languages. In some languages it will not work at all.

I only tried it with the Arc tool. Are you reffering to my key board language or my app language in Illustrator? I have today Swedish on both. Would it solve anything if I change my langugae in Illustrator to English? Or it all comes down to the key board setting? Not sure that can be changed...

As I said: all the langugaes. If they differ, then that might cause issues as well.
