Question

Art box size changes

All of a sudden, when I wet my art box to a normal 3:2 aspect ratio photo image proportion ot 18" w x 12" h,  the art box size will increase to the larger photo size instead of opening the photo in an 18x 12 size. I have doing the same for years with no issue. What is going on? Help appreciated.

Hello @BlackRose,

Would you mind sharing more details, like the version of the OS/Illustrator installed, and a small screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so I can better assist you?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Greetings!

I am on a Mac with current OS

Adobe Illustrator 2025.

This began happening after recent update.

I am a professional photographer and shoot RAW photo images.
They have always been large files and full size high resolution, are at about

I set my art box at 18” wide x 12” high which is the 3:2 ratio and up until now, I would export them to a folder and then open in illustrator and they would fit in the art box perfectly.
Since update, when I set the art box at 18x 12 proportions, the photos each open in full size and alter the art box to the large size for some reason. Never used to happen.
If I use Illustrator 2024 version, everything is normal. Very frustrating.

Appreciate your advise on this.

Kindest Regards,
Russ…

Hello @BlackRose,

Thanks for sharing the details. I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Would you mind sharing a link to a sample file and a small screen recording of your exact workflow, after uploading it to a file-sharing service like Google Drive/Dropbox/etc., so I can check this with the team?

Note: While sharing the file, kindly make the link public and enable the option to Save a Copy/Download (if available).

Looking forward to hearing from you.
