Question

Artboards keep being deleted after re-opening

Hi,

I've got this one specific Illustrator file, of which my artboards disappear every time I open it.

The contents of the artboards are still there, all boards except one just disappear.

Even if I make new artboards around the content, they will be gone the next time I open the file.

Any way to fix this?

The same thing keeps happening to me. Has there been a confirmed fix to this?

Thanks

For me the problem was it being an EPS file instead of AI. Only AI saves the artboards appearantly.

Hello @Kate_Cultivate,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind sharing more details, like the OS/Illustrator version, a sample file, and a screen recording of your workflow and the problem, so I can check this with the team?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

So the only change you make is adding the artboards?

Where do you save the file? Please try the harddisk

Please turn off "Save in background" in the preferences and try again.

Hi,

No i usually make a new icon and then save it. For example just now, i created a new icon and added artboards to the previous ones again. I turned of the save in background and saved it as a new file on my harddisk. After opening it again, all artboards were gone again except the last created one. First screenshot is how i saved it, second one after closing and opening again.

And you are saving it as AI in the latest available version?

Can you please "Save as" and then select version 2020?
