Question

Artifacts and unable to render Mask in GPU Preview

Good day.

I'm having troubles rendering an Opacity Mask. I attach the screenshots of the differences. When I change to CPU Preview, the file renders normally but when I change to GPU preview it shows as the image attached. The problem also affects some blending modes like Color Burn which do not render correctly neither in GPU or CPU Preview.

My system is as follows:

-Windows 11 up to date
-Asus B550M-A
-Ryzen 5 5600x
-32gb Corsair Vengeance DD4 3600MHz RAM
-Sapphire AMD RX 6700XT 16GB

Illustrator Version 28.2 (64 bits)

Check out if there are updates to your graphic card driver.

Make sure it's a studio driver, not a gaming one

Hello, thanks for your answer! I tried doing a clean install of the drivers with the PRO version which AMD states is aimed for creative creators. The initial problem was fixed but now I have the same artifacts in the opacity mask when I zoom in as showed in the picture.

Hello @La Vida353433196hcj,

Sorry to hear about your experience. Would you mind performing a clean reinstallation of the GPU drivers again by following the steps shared in the article (Intel / NVIDIA / AMD) and setting the Graphics Preference to High-Performance for Illustrator (https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-110) and checking if it helps?

Also, try running Illustrator under a different administrator account (Windows / macOS) and share your observations.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
