Artistic Textures

It seems like a potential shortcut to creating distressed effects. I have done texture masking. I was just curious as to how to apply these specifically. The intent of my post was to inquire as to whether someone had direction to get me past the "spraying." I realize just spraying will not suffice. There has to be other steps I am missing. These effects are there for use, so I am curious as to how to use them.

I appreciate the reply. However, I previously saw the information in that link and unfortunately it does not help. That information solely explains how to add symbols. I am not applying symbols in the strict sense of the word. These are textures with no defined color(s).
