Asset export panel not working

When I try to export assets using the asset export panel, nothing is being exported at all. It used to work perfectly though, but not anymore.

Any tips on how to troubleshoot this?

    I am exporting to a subfolder of my desktop on a local drive.

    Nothing big changed to my setup concerning user privileges or software. I don't use any plugins for Illustrator.

    Rebooting the PC has no effect.


    In that case you could try resetting the preferences. Rename the folder so you can revert in case it doesn't help.

    I found that I was unknowingly grabbing guides when trying to drop in my artwork. Turn on guides to makes sure you arent inadvertently grabbing guides when dragging your artwork to the export panel. Solved the issue for me

      Hi Monika,

      This issue has happened several times since your help.

      Last week I reinstalled my PC and even now the issue happens again. Resetting preferences by renaming the folder in AppData / Roaming does not help either this time.


      Have you got other suggestions?

      This looks like your preferences corrupt too easily.

      In that case I would contact support so they can log into your system to check this out:

      Hi Monika,

      When I create a new document, draw a random shape, and drag it to the Assets Export panel, the item appears in that panel, and I select it. In the Export settings section, I choose SVG as the output format.

      Then I click Export, and choose a folder where the file should be exported to.

      After clicking Select folder, there is a window briefly poping up with a progress bar inside. The title of the popup is 'Exporting' and the message is 'Exporting as SVG format'.

      After taking these steps in the past, the SVG file would appearin the folder I choose. But since a couple of weeks or months the function does not work anymore and the folder remains empty.

      I use Illustrator 23.0.3 64 bit on a Windows 10 OS.

      Do you export into a synchronized folder?

      To a network?

      Try the harddisk instead.

      Are the user privileges set appropriately?

      Do you restart the computer regularly?

      Can you try and remember if there is something you changed on that system? Installed something? A new plugin for Illustrator?
