Asterisk in file name does not go away after save. When closing, it asks you to save again...

Hi everyone,

Sorry about the trouble this issue has caused. During our investigation, we found that background save process was getting conflicted with some Plugins.

Could you please confirm if you are using any third-party plugins like ESKO? If yes, please try removing that (for testing purpose only) and let us know if this helps resolving the issue.

Also, I would request that if you could upvote this issue and share this information here (https://illustrator.uservoice.com/forums/601447-illustrator-bugs/suggestions/39029392-background-save-works-but-it-thinks-it-s-not-worki) as well. This way you'll keep getting all the updates related to this issue.

Regards,

Srishti

I’m experiencing a weird thing with my Illustrator, specifically when I save a document. I hit Command+S and it saves. Then I close the document and I’m prompted to save again. It’s like the first one isn’t working.  Usually, there has to be a change to the document to be prompted to save.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the details. Could you please share the screenshots of pop-ups you are getting while saving the file? Also, is Illustrator showing the similar pop-ups when you save the file locally?

The pop-up does come up when saving files locally to the desktop as well.  However, this saving twice issue does not occur on all files.

Hi there,

Could you please try turning off the background save option in the preferences and see if that makes the difference. To disable it, please navigate to Preferences > File Handling& Clipboard > Uncheck Save in Background. Let us know if that makes the difference.

Current Version - Mac - File Saving - despite saving a file, it doesn't have 'save' greyed out after it actually saves, then when I close the document, it asks if I want to save (!).

This is a bad glitch - I have to look on my server to see if, in fact, the file has saved - ADOBE - PLEASE FIX!!

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the trouble you are facing with Illustrator. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of Illustrator and macOS.
  2. Are you able to save the file locally?
  3. Since you are saving the files on a server, could you please check if this is happening with only your user account or with others as well?

Regards

Mac OS High Sierra Version 10.13.6

Ai 24.0.1

I can save locally (to desktop) as well as to the server - however I encounter the same issue about 'save' not greying out and asking to save despite the fact that it did, indeed save.

Appears to be only on my account (not the 2 other individuals I asked)... weird

Any one have this problem?

New 2020 version. After saving a file and want to close, Illustrator asks to save the file again.

The little asterek is still visable after saving and the "save" window is not greyed out?

Thoughts?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I would request if you can share a few more details like:

  1. The exact version of Illustrator and the Operating System.
  2. Is this happening with a specific document or with all the documents?
  3. Where are you saving the file, locally or on any network or shared drive? If on any network or shared drive, please try saving a file locally and see if that's working as expected.

We're here to help just need more information.

Running 24.0.1  and 10.13.6 OS

Happening with all documents. Tried saving both locally and network folders to see if I get the same message.

Happens for both.

Also tested using the Older 2019 version, saves fine.
