Auto and manual upgrade/re-edit the image links in the new Illustrator version (2025) 29.0.1

Hi everybody,

When I try to re-edit or upgrade the links of the images placed in Illustrator 29.0.1 (on Ventura 13.7) the dialogue box "Links" freezes and is no longer activ unless I restart the app.

Despite this, while opening the file I am asked to re-import the same image several repeated times…

is there any solution ?

When was the last time you rebooted the system?

Where is the file and the linked files located? If not on the local harddisk, try and move everything there.

Hi Monika, thank you for your answer, as long as I'm using Illustrator (since v1.0), I always worked with servers, copying the image files on my local shouldn't be the right solution but it can help of course… especially with large/heavy files. Kind regards

All the time Illustrator has had issues with servers. Which does not say that a server based workflow could work for a lot of people. For some people it broke when something was changed server side.

It would be useful to know whether it works locally, because then you would know what to investigate.
