Question

Auto fill with the pen tool....

I really liked drawing in Freehand because once I finished a path, it would automatically fill in with the color I selected prior to starting the path.  In Illustrator, when I draw and have a fill color selected, it automatically keeps filling in the path with color while I am drawing, which makes it difficult if I am tracing something.  Is there a way to turn off the autofill, but still have it fill in my path with color once it is complete?  It is annoying to have to click a fill color every time I am done drawing a path.  I hope that makes sense.  Any help is appreciated!

Could you please post some details of what you want to do?

Nobody here doing your your work for you. But if you describe your task then we can probably give you some clues of how to achieve what you want.

Or just switch the color to the stroke with Shift-X, and then switch it back when you're done.
