Automatic fillcolour assigned per layer, is that possible?

Hey all!

I would love to have all shapes in each layer in Illustrator to be a specfic colour. In such a way, that if I draw a shape in that layer, it will automatically get this fill colour. Or more specifically, when I change the layer of a previously drawn shape, that it will automatically change fillcolour to the corrosponding colour of the layer.

Is something like this possible?

You may apply a fill colour at the layer level through the Appearance palette, possibly as a graphic style.

And in order to apply this as Kurt Gold said, you need to target the layer like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMDpnI5i7M0
