Question

Automatically group each line of text?

I'm working with 180 lines of outlined/ungrouped text, but I need each line of text to be grouped. I don't want to select and group each line individually, is there any way to automatically group each line of text?

I now could provide a bumpy (um, nifty) action that may work well under certain circumstances, but without getting at least one sample file I rather do not want to disgrace myself in case the sample files are inappropriate for the action.

Guess Schubser also still needs a sample file in order to think about a wobbly (er, excellent) script.

could you go into detail, Kurt? i couldn't imagine an action method.

Yes, I could do that. Also, I can say that the action I cobbled together may work fluently (provided that the sample files are appropriate for my approach).

But so far there are no sample files. No samples, no action.

Can you provide the .ai file in question?

I can imagine that it can be done without scripting, but I would have to take a look at the document.

Hi Katherine,

You may try the Illustrator Scripting forum for more help regarding the scripting workflow.

Maybe with scripting. But someone would need to write that script.
