Beginner question- animate/illustratot/character animaoyr?

Hi, I am brand new to all of these programmes and have never used anything like it before. I have a project in mind and have the cartoons that I want to trace. I have a drawing tablet but am struggling to use it and also struggling to bend lines and make vectors in animate. Should I be using illustrator? Then exporting it to animate to bring it to life? Any beginner tutorials would be amazing!

You need to start with learning Character Animator to make sure you understand how a character needs to be built. The file needs to have a certain hierarchy or your animation will be either impossible or incredibly difficult. I would suggest you take a look at the tutorials be Okay Samurai https://www.youtube.com/@okaysamurai

Also take a look at some of the example Illustrator puppets.
