I would like to bend two "merging" objects around an arc.
Here is the pair of starting merging objects, created in illustrator as two rectangles where I removed one corner from each then placed together.
I would like to bend this as a combined object around an arc, maintaining the same object width around the arc.

Carlos' answer is absolutely correct. My answer is just to demonstrate there are usually several solutions to a challenge in Illustrator.
This image shows two stroke attributes assigned different stroke profiles to achive the same result. The blue stroke profile is offset to bottom side on left and set to "0" on the right. The red stroke profile is offset equally left and right. The Appearance can be saved as a "Graphic Style" for easy reuse.
What is fun about this technique is how easy it is to create variations on the effect just be editing the Appearance.
