Question

Blank pdf pages

Hi!

I am a quite experienced user of Illustrator, but I cannot figure out how to solve this issue!

I have a pdf. I open it in Illustrator. When I then save to pdf, some of the pages are blank. When I drag my cursor down the page, I can see that the text is still there - it's just invisible. This is only true for a few of the pages.

I have tried multiple things. I checked that the layer is set to print. I have tried every pdf export setting. I have tried compressing the size of the initial pdf. I have tried splitting the pdf into individual pages and editing them in Illustrator, but the same pages are still blank when I save them as a pdf.

Any ideas? Would be much appreciated as this is quite stressful. Thanks.

I'm sure someone is going to tell you Illustrator is not a PDF editor even though that's how most people work! but there maybe something funky from whatever created the pdf originally, what app created the pdf?

You're definitely right, it's not. I had that same thought, because it's a pdf originally generated from Latex. But I have several other similar documents created the same way where this doesn't happen.

again, no one's gonna like this, but have you tried saving to eps, then opening in Acrobat?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, it's the same result.
