Question

Blob Brush in iPad app freezes screen after few strokes

I tried tracing my sketches in AI on my iPad and when using the Blob Brush Tool my screen freezes after a few strokes all the time. With Pencil Tool and Paint Brush Tool it works fine so far. Any Idea what the cause could be?
iPad pro 2nd gen,
17.4.1 operating system,
AI version 3.0.6

Did you already reboot the iPad completely? Maybe there are just a lot of apps running?

The blob brush might create very complex shapes, when it's set up to combine them immediately. This gives you compound paths with a lot of holes in them.

Another idea: do you also have access to Fresco? In it you can use vector brushes - and they prdocue the same result as Illustrator's blob brush.

All app's are closed. Combine immediately or don't combine strokes makes no difference.

Haven't done a reboot yet but will do when Fresco download is completed.
It would be great if I could simply use AI on my iPad as the interface is similar to the desktop version. No clue how Fresco works but will find it out soon...

When you are just drawing with the vector brush, Freco is pretty simple. It has a layers panel which works pretty much the same as Illustrator on the iPad. PLacing a template (your sketches) is also pretty much the same as in Illustrator/iPad.

THere are 3 types of brushes. Make sure that you use the vector brush. It has some nice additional brushes with jitter.

But Fresco is only for ddrawing the vector shapes. When you want to use other vector tools, you need to transfer the artwork to Illustrator.
