Question

Book cover

I have a book cover that I paid a designer for and that I cannot do simple text edits on.  She said something like its produced with curves so the edits would not be easy for me to do.  Can anyone help me out with this dilemma?  It is time for me to publish the book and designer is not helping?

Andrew,

"I have a book cover that I paid a designer for and that I cannot do simple text edits on. She said something like its produced with curves so the edits would not be easy for me to do."

In addition to what Monika and I said earlier, have you seen for yourself that the Latin text is outlined (forming paths rather than being a font) and thereby truly unediatable (another, maybe less obvious interpretation of the curves part could be Type on a Path)?

And again: have you received the book cover as an AI document/file?

Depending on the actual cover, it may be worth considering leaving the editing to the designer, if applicable.

She probably outlined the text.

You cannot edit it.

You can only type new text.

Thank you for responding.  I do not mind putting in new text.  How would i do that?   Why would the designer leave the title editable and make the latin text uneditable?  Also,  I don't want to disturb the background and color design.  You input is appreciated.

Andrew,

It the Latin text is written with a font that you have no licence to it would be illegal to send you the font.

"Also, I don't want to disturb the background and color design."

Have yoou received the book cover as an AI document/file?

It may be a better soluttion to rely on the designer to have things edited. Could that be a way forward?
