"I have a book cover that I paid a designer for and that I cannot do simple text edits on. She said something like its produced with curves so the edits would not be easy for me to do."

In addition to what Monika and I said earlier, have you seen for yourself that the Latin text is outlined (forming paths rather than being a font) and thereby truly unediatable (another, maybe less obvious interpretation of the curves part could be Type on a Path)?

And again: have you received the book cover as an AI document/file?

Depending on the actual cover, it may be worth considering leaving the editing to the designer, if applicable.

She probably outlined the text.
