Bounding Box Disappears When Adding Guides

I can see the bounding box on my object (a square) but as soon as I click the ruler to pull over a guide, the bounding box disappears. That did not happen in past versions of Illustrator.

Can anyone help me figure out how to retain the bounding box visibility while setting a guide?

I have the bounding box set with a center point. Not using Smart Guides.

Hi @ayleenc10117041,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the screen recording. This seems like expected behavior. I check in 2023 to 2019 Ai versions. It seems your edges are hidden from the View menu. After turning the edges on, you will see a blue border similar to a bounding box, which will help place guides. Smart Guides will act as a magnet while placing the guides on the edges of the objects, which will also help you out.
