Question

Bug: Illustrator won't work if left open for a long time. Needs resetting.

When Illustrator has been open for a long time, sometimes, when I try to open a new blank file, it just doesn't do anything. I have to close out of Illustrator and reboot. Sometimes I have to reset preferences and I lose my configurations.

Hi @MAX2025_Ideas,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience. Could you please confirm which version of Illustrator and operating system you're currently using when this happens?

In the meantime, try closing any unused documents or background applications if Illustrator has been open for an extended period, as memory build-up over time can cause this behavior. Also, please confirm if you're using any third-party plugins or extensions. If yes, try disabling them temporarily or launch Illustrator in Safe Mode to check if the issue still occurs.

macOS: https://adobe.ly/47LsoPv

Also, could you confirm if the issue occurs only when using an external monitor or even when working solely on the primary display?

If you haven't already, try manually resetting Illustrator preferences after creating a backup and then relaunch the app: https://adobe.ly/47LsiaB

Please let me know how it goes after testing this.
