bug report: Illustrator CC 2015 export artboards to svg

In new illustrator CC 2015 when I need to save every artboard as svg files (File--->save as..---> svg--> use artboard...) - the files is null (no artwork in the saved files). When I save and did not choose "use artboard" I can see artwork in saved svg.

When I open the same file in Illustrator CC 2014 - I can save artboard as svg without any problem.

Sorry there is no going back once you have upgraded to 2015.

Hope adobe staff can guide us on how to revert back to illustrator 2014.

I am doing some ui stuff for web application and I badly needed the svg icons.

To those who find it funny that this is just nothing, some of us might loose our job if we wont meet our deadlines.

Please be sensitive! Adobe please fix this stuff asap or assist us on how to revert back!

You are absolutely right that the product team let you down. This is a lapse that we are taking seriously and pushing out an update to Ai CC2015 that fixes this issue early next week.

Sorry about this.

Yet another Adobe roll out that is unusable. I had to back grade from Acrobat DC because it was unusable, now I have had to reinstall Illustrator 2014. I am disgusted by this new attitude within Adobe. I find I cannot trust them as a corporation and I only use their products because my business involves other peoples files. Lazy and greedy Adobe. just like all the other too huge to fail corporations that fell hard. We represent your core market.

To release an update promoting it's benefits and new features in mass mail-outs and now admitting that it's a beta is unprofessional and shows no respect for the end user. This has cost our business money and time and we are not getting the product we've paid for. To say we should have checked on here to make sure the product was stable is not our responsibility. This should be tested before release. To have not noticed this bug is beyond me. Very slack Adobe!

How annoying is this?  Geezus Adobe...two things wrong here.  One, this big mistake of a very important export format.  And two, no improvement to the process?  Really?...it's massively tedious and it shouldn't be.  Please take a lesson from Fireworks.

Below is the feature I dream about for exporting SVG that honestly should be a no-brainer.  Right click / export artboard to...?  Do we really have to wait until 2016 to get this???

Not a fun bug. I have a file with 27 artboards (icons for a whole website) that I needed to export to SVG. Can't really bill the client for all the extra time can I? But after lots of swearing I decided to give the new Affinity Designer a try and that really saved my day. Once you understand how it works, the export functions are simply brilliant - almost exactly like ken_vanka74 describes. Import your AI file, organize the layers if you haven't done so already, check the ones you want, choose your file formats (even with retina options!) and export. Simple as cake!

I realize it's not so nice to push competitor software in Adobe forums but SVG is becoming more and more important and I've come to really dislike the way Adobe has tucked SVG into Illustrator almost as an after-thought. It's completely unlike the other "Save for web" workflows. Why?

You can do a lot of that (and more) with Illustrator scripts, you don't need a whole new program. That's how I organize my artboards. Scripts are freely available on the web but I can't remember now where I got mine. I end up customizing them anyway, its pretty easy and very powerful. Look for: "Export Layers To Files.jsx", "distributeStackedObjects.jsx",  "copyToMultipleObjects.js", "MultiExporter.jsx", "SaveIosAndDroid.jsx", "ArtboardNames.jsx", "SaveDocsAsSVG.jsx" and "SizeArtboards.jsx".

Man this bug is devastating. This was the whole reason I upgraded to CC2014. Please fix as ASAP!

Did you mean CC2015?

No, I meant 2014. Illustrator has long been able to save as SVG, but the upgrade to 2014 was required if you wanted to export/save all current ART BOARDS as SVG. Sometimes I have a document that I use the limit of the dartboards (99). If you have to click on each individual artboard and then do an export and save, its exhausting. The 2014 update allowed me to save as SVG WITH the option of ALL dartboards or just a range. This is VERY useful in UI design where you need to have lots of UI elements of equal size. The way it saves the name is still funky, (but I can live with that).

Now that SVG export is broken, it messes up a lot of things for me.

We are now looking at posting an update soon for both the SVG issue and GPU rendering issues. Fingers crossed.

I am a applique quilt pattern designer and I have to save my illustrator files off as SVGs so that people who want to use electronic cutters like the Silhouette Cameo can open the SVG files and convert them to Silhouette's proprietary "studio" format which is required for the cutters.

I was lucky enough to be able to to this in CC2014.  I upgraded this week to CC2015 and the graphics are no longer attached to the artboard.  If I zoom way out I can find them far away from the artboard and bring them back, but as soon as I save the SVG file and try to open it again, the graphics are detached from the artboard again.

I followed all these posts and downgraded to CC2014 again. I am now having the same problem with CC2014.  Again, luckily I still had my version of CS6 on my computer and I reinstalled that. I now have to bring in my ai. files to the CS6 ( it tells me that it I may loose some of the data) in order to save them as SVG files that my Silhouette software will read.

I am not a web designer.  I am not sure what is happening.  All I know is that it doesn't work and it is a major inconvience - especially as I am now paying $50+ a month for this!

What I'd like to know is whether or not this will be something that will be fixed in "4-6 weeks"? From all the posts I've read, it sounds like I have just been lucky that it has worked in the past.

Saving as SVG 1.1 works in 2014 on my machines. The two pieces of software are separate, so I would try uninstalling both versions of Illustrator and reinstalling 2014 using the method shown earlier in the thread.

Glad to see I'm not crazy and everyone else is having this issue. Would love for this to get fixed ASAP Adobe! We love CC 2015, so its sad to have to downgrade just to export our icon fonts.
