Question

[BUG?] Typing in fill number

Hello,

I'm trying to type in a percentage in the fill box (in this case, of the "K"/key, but it happens with all CMYK too), but whenever I actually click to type there and press a keystroke, the window disappears. Take a look here (when it disappears I pressed a key): Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Illustrator version: 22.1

OS: macOS 10.13.3

Is this a bug?

Thanks.

I've had something similar happen in the past, luckily you can access parts of illustrator other ways... I usually access color controls somewhere else... either the swatch boxes in the tool bar or up top.... it makes the dialogue 'pop out' different.  sometimes I have double clicked to drive into that panel window (so it won't pop off)

I have no idea what 'perfect storm' causes it -- used to happen to me during deadlines (so frustrating too!)

Editing settings inside a windows has never failed me... those pop-up fly out things have a mind of their own sometimes it seems.

I have the same versions of Illustrator and OS, but cannot replicate your problem. Have you tried restarting Illustrator? Restarting computer? Resetting preferences?

I've tried restarting Illustrator and MacBook, and I haven't messed with Illustrator's settings so... Try this:

Open up a new document in CMYK mode, make a rectangle, change the fill (manually type in some numbers) - it'll work the first time, the background color of the textfield will turn white, then you press enter, but then (I did it without deselecting the shape), when you want to change the fill values again, the cursor will be in the textfield, but the textfield doesn't turn white anymore, like the cursor's still there but focused on something else it seems, preventing you from inputting anything?

Try and play around with it, see if it does anything, just keep on changing the fill values and it should occur.

textfield? in your GIF, that's a live shape, not a textfield.
