Merci à tous !

@creative explorer Thanks a lot, didn't know that a could reinstall a previous version!

@Abhishek Rao @creative explorer Good news ! Problem Fixed !

I spend the afternoon yesterday going back and forth on different version and try to figure out why it was working on previous version and not on lattest one. I don't know why but I had an image file corrupted in my CSV file, illustrator proceeded it fine before and not now, but anyway, deleting the img and replace it fixed my issue 😁

Thanks to you two !

Hi @eurl_5363,

Thanks for sharing the details. Adding to what the expert suggested, since you mentioned the CSV file itself hasn't changed, and it used to work fine before, this does sound like it may be linked to a recent update in Illustrator. Could you confirm the exact Illustrator and OS version you are currently using? It would also help if you could share a small sample CSV file and the steps you follow to reproduce the error, as that will allow us to test it on our side. You can share a screen recording demonstrating your workflow. Please let me know if the error appears only when switching datasets or also right after importing the CSV, and if the same behavior happens with a brand-new CSV created from scratch.

Looking forward to your update, so we can get to the root of this.

Abhishek

@eurl_5363 First, I would reset my Illustrator preferences to see if this solves this glitch. Hoping it's just a corrupted preferences. Close Illustrator and relaunch it while holding Control Alt Shift (PC) or Command Option Shift (Mac) to reset your preferences. Be aware this will wipe custom settings. Restart Illustrator. Open the document, and save the file with a new name. Sometimes this can clear underlying corruption in the document structure. If that works, awesome. If not, you
would need to delete the link and re-link it. In the Variables panel, delete all existing Datasets. Remove all Variables from the Variables list except the ones you absolutely need. If possible, delete all of them and re-import them. Click the "Import (Importer)" button and re-select your CSV file. This forces Illustrator to create fresh variable links to the objects and re-establish the Datasets from scratch.

@creative explorer Thanks for passing by ! I've tried both of your solutions but no one works. I even try to remake an all new file, with new variable links etc, but I have the "Unknown error" every time. I'm struggling understanding why now I have an error whereas last month it just works fine as it always did. Could illustrator have change the way it reads CSV files or something like that ???

@eurl_5363 in this case, rolling back is the most common and successful workaround. In the past, users have reported that reverting to a previous version of Illustrator (e.g., reverting from 26.3.1 to 26.2.1) immediately solved the variable import error. Do use the Creative Cloud Desktop application to install a previous version of Illustrator. They should look for the three dots next to the Illustrator app in the Creative Cloud app, select Other Versions, and install an older, known-stable version (ideally one they were using when it was working a month ago!
