Question

Can 3-D and Materials Effects in Illustrator be changed to line art?

I love the 3-D and Materials Effect and now I would like to change it to be line art where where each plane of the letters are individual shapes. (Not just create outline of the letters). It takes too long to render as it is now.

Thank you,

Suz

There is a button in the 3D & materials panel to Render as vector. Does that not work?

Hi Betreff,

Yes it does. That feature is a lifesaver. You are a lifesaver too. I didn’t notice it before. Thank you so much for your help.

Glad you could solve it.

Please not that the feature will not always produce clean art. It does in this case, but if you have shading applied to particularly round artwork, then you might not be happy with the result.
