Question

can I combine this vector image to make it larger

I am in a paroject where I am in new software territory. I am using lightburn to send a job to a laser printer. I am doing a sidewalk for model scenery. I can't seem to upload my .ai file with the 2 "vectored" items I want to stitch together and make them larger) I was able to convert the jpeg to a vector image and copy it. I want to paste multile times to make it a larger image. I am actually trying to paste it or import it into an "L" shape that has dimension of 18" x 5" that will go to the laser printer. See my sidewalk jpeg. If I can combine my jpeg, can I also make a longer cobblestone block (dee the perimiter of my sidewalk, covert it to a vector long enough to add to the origial cobblestone or to add to my lightburn program. This may sould complicated, but I am learning and want to see if I can do this.

If there is a way to get you my .ai file, let me know if you need to see it.

Nelson,

To share an AI file, upload it to own server or any file sharing site and post a link.

With regard to the question at hand, I believe this approach would be your main way of working with it, whether you choose to make it from the raster (based) shapes if you can get it to fit, or from creating an individual sett (see below), or group of setts, that can be repeated seamlessly (either way):

It is crucial to have the tiles fit completely accurately, which requires a regularity of the outer parts of the tile and will be difficult with a raster (based) shape.

For a vector based tile you can make the outer parts regular and build in some irregularity inside the tile to ensure a natural lively appearance of the tile; this can be done by changing size/shape/positioning of setts to get areas/transitions. Small/moderate changes will do.

You will need special tiles for the sides (vertical and horizontal).

Cobbles/cobblestones are the coarser/cheaper round ones (basically just stones) that are likely to make you stumble, the flat and (more or less) rectangular hewn ones are setts. The latter give a smooth(er) surface suitable for foot, hoof, and wheel.

Here is the link to the .ai file I am working with. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1G4hyQGMqVc82UaW3NRaTk68a6AGlNOPT?usp=sharing

It has two images that were converted to vectors and I butted them together. I also cleaned them up a bit when I converted them. I am learning. Anyway, I was able import one to Lightburn and paste it to make a many and butt them together. I was able to combine the layers so I could manipulate it as one layer. Not sure how it is working, (won't know until I send it to the laser printer) but I do want to know how to do this in AI. I tried a few different ways this morning, but got errors. Here is a screenshot of the error.

I have made it this far and have created a vector image out of a jpeg.  I would like this image to be very large, so I would like to past a bunch of the images in this .ai file and string them together as one image. I have tried to do this, by selecting all: but I am getting errors when I follow different instructions. One of the errors will be in the attached pic. Here is a link to download the .ai file I created with 2 images. Can you show me how to combine them? Is if a layer thing like in PS? Do you collapse the layer?
