Question

Can I edit the Home Screen presets?

You know, when on the home screen we have these 6 icons at the top under "suggestions"

Although I live in Belgium, I use the US version because I prefer the English interface, but the presets are typical US and I would like to change those for our common sizes. (A4 and in mm).

I've been looking inside prefs and application for a .plist file (MacOS) but I can't find it.

Any ideas?

HI @Wodan,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the default preset icons on the Home Screen in Illustrator. The default icons are linked to specific document sizes and cannot be edited or replaced.

However, you can create custom presets with your desired document sizes.

Here's how you can do it:

  1. Open Illustrator and go to File > New.
  2. In the New Document dialog box, choose the document size and settings that you want to use as your new preset.
  3. Once you have set your desired options, click on the "Save as template" button at the bottom of the dialog box.
  4. Enter a name for your preset/ template and click OK.
  5. Save it in a location from where you can easily access it to get started with new documents.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks,

Anshul Saini

I don't think so, since it's fetched from the CC servers, not locally. You likely will simply have to make it a habit to use the old-fashioned document menu and forego any of these fancies.
