Question

Can I run Illustrator on Laptop with another Monitor

Hi guys, I am really new to using Illustrator and have an old desktop PC that I currently use on a Full HD 1920x1080 monitor connected via HDMI port. It seems to work okay but the computer is slow and I need a laptop for my studies. Since I am on a tight budget I was looking to buy a refurbished laptop and was recommended to get this one https://hungrypc.co.nz/product/13-3-core-i7-dell-latitude-16gb-ram-1tb-ssd-hdmi-full-hd-windows-11-incredible-specs/

This laptop has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 Series with HDMI port, if I plug my existing monitor in will it have a similar experience to my desktop PC by using the laptops HDMI port, or does it not work like that? The CPU is a much better spec than my old i5 second generation, so I think going to an i7 with more RAM should make things faster, as long as Illustrator is not going to have any trouble using an external monitor instead of the laptop screen (because its small)

Hello @Mark32169965rgr3,

Thanks for reaching out. You will be able to use the laptop along with the external monitor in a multi-monitor setup. Learn more here: (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-multiple-monitors-in-windows-329c6962-5a4d-b481-7baa-bec9671f728a). This way, you can either have things displayed on both the monitors at once, or choose to only display on the external monitor when it is connected.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks, ^AM
