Can I set Actions Default Playback Options to Step x Step

We're running a script that requires this to be set to Step x Step by default, does anyone know a way for this to happen?

there's no script access to playback options, but they stick, don't they? if you set step by step, all actions will play with this setting until you change it to something else.

Or if you close AI and I believe if you close the doc you're working on as well, it resets to accelerated.

We tried to create a "watch me do" action which we are able to do - but when we run the script we get an error
