Can't edit layers on my newly vectorized photo

I'm doing an image trace to vectorize some photos for a client. Got all my presets right and proceeded with the trace, the issue is when I try to go in and clean up some of the edges, there are no layers to edit, no achor points or anything. I can't make the 'path' editable because it essentially is as if there is no path. But it is a vector and adjusts as a vector would when minimizing or enlarging the size. What is my issue and why won't it allow me to adjust layers/paths?
