Can't Eye Drop Inside Shapes in New Version of Illustrator???

(See attached video for the problem)

In the new version of Illustrator I can no longer draw over imported images like I used to in CS6.  Before I could draw a shape with the pen tool, toggle visibility off in the Appearance Panel, eye drop the color of what I have drawn over, and then toggle visibility back on for a completed shape.

Now when I try to eye drop inside of the shape I have drawn it does nothing.  Is there a way to fix this?  This is really counter-productive to the way I like to create vector images from drawings I have made.

If I choose No Fill it will then allow me to eye drop the color inside the shape.  This makes it somewhat like I was doing before, albeit with an extra step.  Thank you.

Hello @k12art,

Thanks for your patience. Would you mind changing the shape appearance to No Fill to check if it helps?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav
