Can't open files after installing Monterey

Since updating to Monterey I cannot open the majority of my Illustrator files. Get an error:
"Can't open the illustrator file. The file is locked or in use ID:-54"
Files are not locked or in use. Have tried a restart with same result.
Interestinghly, some files do open but majority don't.
Anyone else had this issue?

Sorry to hear about this experience. I would request you add Full Disk Permissions for Illustrator by following the steps shared in this article (https://support.avast.com/en-in/article/allow-mac-full-disk-access/) as suggested by Monika.

Also, if the files are on a network/external drive or a synced folder, kindly try moving the files to the desktop and share your observations.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I store my files on DropBox - no issues prior to upgrade to Monterey.
I moved a file I know doesn't open, to my hardrive and now it opens no problem.

I then added Full Disk Permissions to my Adobe products and tried opening the same file from DropBox and it cannot open it as before i.e. "Can't open the illustrator file. The file is locked or in use ID:-54"

Thanks for confirming that, and sorry for the late response. Working on files directly from an External/Network drive or a Cloud-synced folder is not recommended, and you may face some problems more frequently (for example, damaged files, denied access, or slow performance). We recommend saving your work to a location on the internal drive and manually backing it up.
