Question

Can't place guides when zoomed it past 25500%

I've always had this issue with illustrator where guides do not show up when I try to place them anywhere when zoomed past 25500%

I can place them at 25500% but anymore zoomed in and I cannot.

Is this a glitch? a relevent issue? or how can I fix it?

At 64000% I can see guides that are added at a low zoom factor, but I cannot drag them from the rulers and see them at 64000%.

As far as I can see, at 64000 % I can create visible ruler guides most of the time. Only sometimes it doesn't work for some reason.

This has been happening to me since learning Illustrator. On every device I've used as well. Various laptops, desktops, Ipad, tablets, etc. So I hope you can see why I thought it was just a normal thing that Illustrator can't do.

Hello @Jlily98,

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Placing guides at extremely high zoom levels, such as past 25500%, should generally not be a problem in Illustrator. However, it's possible that specific conditions or settings may be contributing to this behavior.

To better understand and address the issue, could you provide some additional information?

  • Screen Resolution: Please share your screen resolution. Knowing your screen dimensions can help us identify any potential factors related to display limitations.

  • Workflow Demonstration: If possible, could you share a screen recording demonstrating your workflow when attempting to place guides at high zoom levels? This will allow us to see the issue in action and may provide further insights.

In the meantime, you might want to try turning off any "snap to" from the View menu. Sometimes, these settings can affect the placement of guides.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, and I'm here to assist you in resolving this matter. If you have any additional details or questions, feel free to share them.

Best regards,

Anshul Saini

Hi Anshul,

Here is a screenshot of my screen/display resolution as well as a recording of a demonstration of the guides not working. All "snap to..." options were turned off prior to recording. This is a problem I've had since first learning Illustrator in 2018 so I thought maybe that's just how it is. I hope i'm wrong...
