Can't show/hide children of locked layer

I created a graphical template with 2 layers: the first one is my actual template and the second one is where I put other images under my template.

The first layer is locked to prevent accidental edits but it has some objects that need to be shown or hidden inside of it (depending on the template needed), little scheme follows:

  • Layer 1 (template, locked, visible)
    • Various graphics (visible)
    • Black graphics (visible)
    • White graphics (hidden)
  • Layer 2 (images, unlocked, visible)

Here comes the problem: I can't show or hide the objects under the first layer without unlocking it and locking it again. Possible bug?

This may or may not be intended behaviour and it has been working that way for a long time.

As a workaround you may unlock all, select whole Layer 1 and then lock the individual items with Object > Lock > Selection.

Now you can show and hide the locked objects as desired.
