Hi @May27305370zv7r,

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the detailed info on the issue. As Monika & Mike said, 8GB RAM is not enough. I agree with it, as this generally happens when there is not enough RAM or GPU VRAM available for Illustrator to create a preview of the document. Would you mind closing other apps running in the background and seeing if that helps? Additionally, if there are multiple artboards in the file, then would you mind checking if saving each artboard to a separate file helps or not?

If this doesn't help, would you mind confirming your system specification and sharing the file with us? We'll check on our end and see if anything can be done to reduce the file size.

Kindly update the discussion if you still need assistance with it. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,

Anshul Saini

Restart your computer and try again with no other apps besides Illustrator using RAM. You should look into getting more than 8gb, as the artwork may be too complex.

It could be a GPU problem:

See what you got in the performance panel of the preferences:

Try to disable everything you can, and see how it goes:
In the top view menu you may have preview as outline, and either CPU or GPU, check CPU vs GPU as well and see if you got anything going.

If only CPU displays (or works if you have the choice)  that means that for some reason, illustrator doen't recognise your GPU and that may cause problems.

I am not saying that's the solution, but worth the investigation. And possibly try to update your GPU drivers if possible.

Clarification:
if you see "view using CPU" that means you are in GPU mode

it's like a toggle menu

If you see only "outline" after having switched from CPU then that means illustrator down't recognise any GPU.
The normal behaviour is to have that: (when CMD/CTRL+E  repeatedly)

This looks like exported artwork from a CAD program, so the first thing to do is to check for "bad" data like stray points, fragments of paths, duplicate paths, paths that are supposed to be closed being open etc. Such files will always require clean-up - sometimes more, sometimes less.

8 GB of RAM is just not enough.

You can try if rebotting the computer and then launching only Illustrator helps, but that's that.
