Question

Cant select small images illustrator

For some reason I can only select small images by grabbing the edge of the image. At large scale i'm able to select the image both by hovering the image and the edge of the image. But as soon as the image is scaled down, The selection won't grab the image until i hover it's edges.

Any idea how to fix it?

i constantly have the same issue, yes it's any image, embedded or linked, that is scaled whatever AI thinks is too small. if that image is grouped with other objects, i cannot isolate it or select it as a key selection to align other things with. nothing works until i scale it up again. seen this issue in forums since 2018... adobe bots keep pretending it's user error, as they are unable to actually fix things, only roll out experimental features and easy buttons to automate work that usually cannot be automated...

Hi @metafr0st,

I'm sorry to hear you've been running into this issue for so long. To help me check this further, could you please share which version of Illustrator you're currently on and the details of your operating system?

In the meantime, you might want to try resetting Illustrator's preferences to see if it makes any difference, as sometimes older settings can interfere with object selection. Also, please test hte issue in safe mode to isolate the issue from any third-party software. Ref:

Please let me know how it goes and share the details when you get a chance so I can dig into this further.

Hello @emilsvedin,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Could you share more details, like the exact version of the OS/Illustrator and whether this happens with all files, so we can better assist you?

Also, try resetting Illustrator's preferences as described in this article (https://adobe.ly/4fYFCuQ) and check if it helps.

Disclaimer: Please note that renaming preferences folders will remove all the custom settings, and Illustrator will launch with default settings. You can also save a backup of the folders, the location of which is mentioned above.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
