CC 2018 Illustrator.exe

Why is the Illustrator.exe file in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2018\Support Files\Contents\Windows instead of the root directory.

The location you have mentioned above is the one where Illustrator.exe should be lying. That is where it has always been in older versions as well.
