Changing a color in an illustration to another

Is Adobe Illustrator the right product if I need to change the color of an illustration to a different color?  IE, a pig in a red shirt needs to have a blue shirt and I don't want to have to color in blue over the red.

Or is this a task for Photoshop?

It depends on in what program the Illustration was actually created. Or if it is something that you will be doing a scan of. If it is a rasterized scan you will most likely want to change the color in Photoshop. Even then, however, Illustrator has an Image Trace feature that can make a vector version of it (the quality of which can vary from quite good to virtually unusable) which you then could recolor as vector art. If it is already vector art then certainly Illustrator is the right product to use.
