Charts and Graphs - Not User Friendly?

Hey guys,

Everytime I try to create a Piechart or line graph etc in illustrator its so confusing and hard.

I find it easier to use an online generator instead.

I have heard of people using excel and stuff but that sounds worse!

Does anymore know any tips or tricks or alternative ways to make vector based charts and graphs?

I am just looking to create simple stuff like the screenshot below.

Thanks for your time.

alternative ways to make vector based charts and graphs?

MatLab, Mathematica, EasyStat, OpenOffice, any number of other tools that spit out SVGs, PDFs and PNGs, including Microsoft's very own Office. Of course some of that costs money, but if you're serious about the matter, you probably should forget about Illustrator, at least the automated tools. IMO it's simply not worth the trouble. By the time you get your chart looking the way you want, you can jsut as well draw it from scratch...
