Hello,

I am very new to Illustrator and looking to create a diagram for a drone shot of our incoming Freshman class.  A colleague who left created the attached diagram with each square equaling 2' or one person.  I am looking to recreate using the letters N A Z instead of the graduation year.  Any help on how to get me there?  Thanks!

You could use the rectangle grid tool to create the grid. You could calculate how many lines and columns you need or just make many.

Then use the live paint tool to draw the letters inside that in the way you like it.

Thanks!  Do you know how I print with the grid showing?

You will have to apply strokes to the grid lines in order to make them print.
