Clicks in Swatches panel don't always work

Question

Pretty much like the subject line says. I often need to click twice in the panel to get the color to apply. This also happens in InDesign.

I'm on Sequoia 15.6. Running a MacBook Pro 16-inch 2023 Apple M2 Max with 96 GB memory

Illustrator 29.7.1 and InDesign 20.5 (this has been happening across multiple version updates)
