Clipping Mask and Flatten Transparency slices image

I have a raster image that Ive applied a clipping mask to. I want to delete everything outside the mask. Ive searched high and low without really finding any instructions on the matter. The closest Ive come to are "crop" under pathfinder, and "Flatten Transparency".
Illustrator doesn't do a thing when I try to use Crop
Flatten Transparency seems to work more or less.. It deletes everything outside the clipping mask, but anything inside the clippling mask shape is cut/sliced into three images.
About a month ago, I came across an incredibly easy meathod, so easy I thought "holy crap thats super easy. Why is this so illusive?" Apparently it was so easy, I didn't think Id need to note it in my Quick Notes doc. Now I can't even remember which forum I saw it on.

Correct answer Kurt Gold

In recent versions of Illustrator you may just select the clipping mask, go to the Object menu > Rasterize dialog and choose the ppi setting of the original image there.

>_> ... <_< ... >_>... T_T  I did do this. . . but.... i guess I hadn't chosen Transparent Background (Picard face palm). Wow...
Well, I did say I remember it being easy. Ugh, Thank you so so much! I really appreciate it!

Flatten transparency removes transparency, so hard to follow what you are asking. Maybe a screenshot you will help better explain what you are tryign to achieve.

What file format are you saving to? You will need a format like .png to honor transparency. To confirm visually what is transparent use Shift Command D to toggle the transparency checkerboard on and off.

You can save to .jpg to flatten the transparency. the file wil be smaller as a channel for transparency is not added.

Can't do screenshots atm...
Basically, import Jpeg/png of a tree and embed.

Create Triangle shape over the image and create clipping mask.
Goal: I want everything outside of the Clipping mask to be delete, so Im left with only a cropped Triangular raster image of the tree.

The only way Ive come across doing it is via Flatten Transparency, when I  this method, it kind of works, but it breaks up the resulting image (the triangle) into multiple parts.
Coincidently I am trying to crop a grunge/paint texter and want the blending mode to be Multiply.
But regardless of that, all Im basically trying to do is crop an image using a clipping mask.

Triangular raster files don't exist. They always have to be rectangular.

Flatten transpareny produces non-transparent artwork. If this can only be achieved by slicing images, then Flatten transparency slices images.
