Clipping mask on ipad

I am in fashion and I creat garments in adobe. I have a pattern that I need to apply to a garment however when ever I try to apply the clipping mask the entire garment disappears and I am left with one color from the entire pattern or sometimes no color and just a blank circle or square even though that is not the original shape of what I created. Please help! I have no desktop to switch over.
