I just started using Illustrator and can't get the brush tool to work. A few minutes ago, I couldn't change colors. No matter where I moved the dropper on the color gradient, the lines on my project kept coming out black. Aaargh! Please help.

In order to pick a color from a gradient, you need to hold down shift when picking with the eyedropper tool. If that does not work, please show us the objects. Please include the layers panel with objects visible in it.
