Coloring In Non-Contained Areas

Question

Hi there,I'm still pretty new to Illustrator, and was hoping to get some insight on how to easily fill in non-contained areas. I know there's the Live Paint Bucket which is great, but it doesn't work very well for the art I need color. Due to the brushes used, the areas are not contained (sample image below).I have the full adobe suite, so if there's a better program to do this in (photoshop) I am open to that to, just need some pointing in the right direction as I'm a bit stuck.Thank you in advance,Rob

RSS,How about a large (enough) fill/nostroke rectangle behind the brushed path, then a copy of the brushed path behind that again, then with both selected Pathfinder>Intersect shape areas?

You can either:- expand the brushes: Object > Expand appearanceAfter that it won't be easily editabl anymore- Make a duplicate: make a copy of the layer, lock the original layer, delete the brushstrokes from the paths and then use live paint.
