Colors in "New document profiles" missing – AI 24.0 2020 update

Hello AI guys,

since the update to AI 24.0 my document profiles do not work properly any more. I have two main "New document profiles" in the corresponding folder (Windows; German) for print and screen applications
%AppData%\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings\de_DE\x64\New Document Profiles 

 

The templates (regular Illustrator files) include our corporate colors but since the 24 update the colors do not appear in the color swatch pallete any more. 

What can I do to fix this?

That would mean Illustrator doesn't use your document profile.

I have tested this on 24.0.1 and it works as expected for me.

What might have happened:

- the document profile is corrupt (can you open it from the Finder?)

- Illustrator has somehow nuked itself or at least its preferences (when did you last restart the computer - did you rebuild the preferences already?)

- the folder has issues read/write, permission, a bad day, headaches, whatever

Cool, it works again but different. After renaming Prefs and restarting Illustrator the templates didn't appear in the new doc dialogue. I just opened them manually for the folder "New document profiles" and after that they apeared again in the new dialogue. Also the color swatches are there again. 

I think you're right. Somehow AI didn't really sue my templates. But why.... I just realized that there is file named "Adobe Illustrator Prefs.err" in this folder …\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator 24 Settings\de_DE\x64. I guess an error happened here one day.

Do the document profiles have a specific name that you can select them by in the New document dialog box? Or did you change the existing profiles, so it gets difficult to know whether you are using custom or default profiles?

Many thanks for your ultra-quick reply – I feel honoured 😉 

 

Yes, my document templates have individual names or are individual files I placed in the corresponding folder. As far as I remember the original documents where made based on the standard templates – it must be like that. 

They still appear in the new document dialogue but after picking one of them they have the described problem.

All AI files are based on the original templates.

 

Can you describe what exactly the swatches are and in which way they have been changed?
