Question

Colour code differences between computers

Hi everyone,

At our office, we work in the same illustrator files. These files are stored on an online server.

Now it often happens that when someone else opens a file, the colour codes are incorrect.

The RGB values and HEX code sometimes differ slightly when opening the same file on a different computer. How can this happen? We have ruled out human error.

Cheers

The simple answer is that neither of you is using a consistent color management, which is the point none of the others clearly spelled out.

Are you working with RGB or CMYK documents?

Are the Color Settings the same on each machine?

Hi Ton,

I've only noticed this while working with RGB documents but it could happen with CMYK as well.

Color settings seem to be the same across all computers.

The color settings have to be synchronized across the office.

Also: when there are different settings, then probably you have it set up in a way that it actually convertes the colors into the different color space. So it looks like there might be some work to do in the files after you have synchronized the color settings.

You're referring to syncing the colour settings through Adobe Bridge, correct? Because I've done so already but without luck unfortunately.

I'm referring to this happening with all the computers in the same way.

So how are all the computers set up?
